Keep the next conversation within reach
What happens after I leave the visit?
Ask for the next step in writing: what is being proposed, who is responsible and how to reach that person. Keep it with the medicine name and your questions.

Keep the care plan clear
What do I need to know before the next visit?
- When will we discuss progress?
- What changes do you want me to report?
- Who answers a medicine question between visits?
- What do I do if that person is unavailable?
- Who arranges tests or another examination?
- What will later visits and prescriptions cost?
Ask for a copy of the plan in words you can use. If a message later changes it, ask for an updated written version.
What if an instruction is unclear?
Direct your question to your prescriber or to the pharmacist. Ask them to explain the actual label and confirm which product their explanation covers.
Keep the product packaging, visit notes and relevant messages together. You can use those details when asking for a correction or explanation.
As of September 28, 2026, Maryland requires the same standard of records for online and in-person care. The same laws protect your private information and your right to see your records.
How do I report a medicine problem on my own?
MedWatch is the free program patients can use to send medicine-problem reports to FDA, the Food and Drug Administration.
A report of an unwanted event following medicine use cannot on its own establish that the medicine was responsible.
